John Adair, the celebrated world's first professor of leadership, had this to say about leadership transitions. He said:

"In my view it is morally wrong to give a person a leadership role without some form of training - wrong for them and wrong for those who work with them. We do not entrust our children to bus drivers who have no training, so why place employees under the direction of untrained leaders?"

Unfortunately this trend is still pervasive. New research shows only 32 percent of global leaders felt their organizations properly supported their leadership transitions. Every new leadership role introduces new challenges and opportunities leaders need to prepare for.

Let us support leaders to transition properly into their new roles.
