Do not fall for the myth that strategic leadership is the job of top management only or strategy is for managers and leaders.

Organisations realise their full potential when individuals at every level appreciate the strategic priorities of the organisation and embrace their strategic role.

You may not be able to carry the entire team to a strategy retreat where the organisation’s strategy is discussed in detail, especially if you have a very large team. But you must support every individual within your organisation to embrace their strategic role play that role.

The strategy process is not complete until the strategy is on hearts, minds, and reflects in the day-to-day actions and decisions at the frontline.

So what I do as part of strategy sessions with my clients is to explore how the strategy will be shared with staff who were not at the retreat.

Leaders must relentlessly communicate the strategic thrust of the organization in novel and empowering ways every time they meet with their teams. This never stops. This is one of the ways strategic leaders create alignment and drive execution.

The art of communication is the language of leadership                                                                                                                               ~James Hume
